A 30" x 30" original oil painting on canvas.  This painting was inspired by many beautiful morning walks in Heisler Park in Laguna, California.  I did several plein air paintings there and used them to create this larger studio painting.  The impasto brushstrokes capture the feeling of movement in the water and give the feeling of sea breezes.  This iconic cove has green sand, pink sand and a golden sea cliff.

This is a 14" x 18" oil on canvas.  This painting is of a cafe at The Piazza Del Poppolo in Rome.  There are several restaurants in this piazza and a beautiful statue in the center.  I captured a lot of gorgeous colors coming from inside the restauran.  The light frames three of the waiters that are having a conversation while a couple on the left is having a romantic dinner out.  These details tell the story of the evening.  The thick, impasto brushwork creates texture and the lights seem to glow.

This is a 30" x 40" oil on canvas.  One of my favorite beaches in California is Baker Beach.  There is an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge and its a favorite spot for people to take their dogs.  The bridge is framed on both sides by sea cliffs.  Sailboats are on the horizon and the passing clouds enhance the scene.  If you have a favorite beach where you like to take your dogs and want a painted memory, email me photos of your dogs and let me know which beach is your favorite.  I can put the scene together and create a painting of any size for you.

This is a 40" x 30" oil on canvas.  I've spent many happy days at China Cove in Point Lobos, this amazing park is 4 miles south of Carmel By The Sea, it's a treasure trove of beautiful scenery with unique rock formations and a lot of wildlife.  You can see seals, whales, otters and many different types of sea birds.  This painting of China Cove is two landscapes in one, the first landscape is the view looking down into the cove, the second is the view looking south towards the distant coastline .  The large scale of this painting allows for a lot of detail including some sea stars in the bottom and a spotted seal swimming accross the kelp bed.

This is a 9" x 12" oil on Belgian linen panel.  I enjoy warm afternoons and the sunny glare of the evening.  This painting was inspired by a an evening stroll along the Balboa Penninsula walkway.  The Newport Sailing school is out as well as an assortment of boats often found in Newport Harbor such as the duffy and the tug boat.

Thick impressionist style brushstrokes of various shades of reflected light dance accross the water towards the viewer.

This is a 12" x 12" oil on canvas panel.  The bold colors of this harbor scene and lively brush strokes create an impression of movement and light.   This painting was inspired by the harbor in Santa Cruz.  I often look for complimentary colors in landscapes, this painting has a nice assortment of blues and oranges.

This is a 12" x 10" oil on linen pane.  This painting was inspired by an evening stroll in San Francisco from Chinatown to downtown.  We passed by The Sentinel where people were waiting to get in for dinner.  It was a misty evening and the lights reflected beautifully on the pavement and the warm glow of the restaurant invites the viewer in.

This is a 30" x 40" oil on canvas.  While living in Southern California I discovered a lot of beautiful places to paint, this painting is the view from one of my favorite vistas above Crescent Beach, its called Crescent Bay Point Park.  This painting is large so its size allows for  a lot of detail including many sunbathers and swimmers, the homes on the hillside and the small rocky cliff that frames the bay.   The water around Laguna is gorgeous, I've expressively painted various overlapping shades of blue and viridian, hues of violet radiate from the wet sand.

This is a 10" x 12" oil on linen panel.  Catalina is a short ferry ride from Los Angeles but a world away.  If you get the chance to go there, the slow pace will make you feel like you've stepped back in time. This is the main harbor which is filled with boats and near the ferry landing.  I spent 3 days on Catalina and this was the last painting I did there on location.  The bold colors in this painting sparkle, the lively brush strokes create an impression of movement and light.  I hope to go back there someday.

This is a 8" x 16" oil on linen panel.  I don't often do long rectangles but this format allowed me to capture the gorgeous Marin headlands to the left of the bridge.  I started this painting on location from a cliff near The Legion Of Honor in Golden Gate Park In San Francisco.  The tops of the cypress trees in the foreground frame the gorgeous blue San Francisco Bay.  On the other side of the bridge you can see some of Sausalito.

This is a 20" x 24" oil on canvas.  When we visited Tuscany, we got to explore different hilltop towns each day, I enjoyed getting to see the amazing valley views, farmland, vineyards and beautiful country roads that go from town to town.  This painting expressively captures the feeling of being on top of the world in Tuscany, it was inspired by a visit to the town of Cortona, this town was the central town in the movie, Under a Tuscan Sun.  Thick brushwork depicts the orange trees and 12th century village and monastery in the foreground.

This is a 12" x 12" oil on linen panel.  I got to spend a lot of time at a very special, small ranch in Costa Mesa called Aloha Ranch.  I got to know the horses' personalities, this painting captures the shyness of the white horse and the way the paint horse protects her.  Each painting tells a story, this tells the story of their relationship, their beautiful markings are framed by neutral background colors.  I like paintings to have a strong drawing and loose brushwork, this painting has those qualities.

This is a 16" x 20" oil on canvas.  This painting was inspired by a walk on the beach at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach, California.  Crystal Cove is a beloved 6 mile stretch of beach.  Colorful umbrellas and gentle waves portray a family day at the beach.  The brush strokes in this painting are loose and expressionistic, full of color and motion.

An 11" x 14" original oil painting.  Italian cypress trees and lavendar flowers invite the viewer down a terra cotta path.  This painting was started on location at Filoli Gardens in Northern California. The entire landscape is drenched in late afternoon light. The painting is alive with motion and texture, the thick, expressive brush strokes drawing you deeper into the painting.

This is a 9" x 12" oil on canvas.  This painting was inspired by a full moon evening on Newport Harbor, the sailboat is illuminated by the moon, the inviting Balboa Pavillion casts beautiful reflections onto the bay.  Pastel shades of pink and violet clouds light up the sky.

This is a 10" x 8" oil on linen panel.  The Cunada building is one of my favorite buildings in Los Gatos.  Los Gatos is a vibrant, sunny town in the Bay Area of Northern California.  This was painted on location at the Los Gatos Plein Air Event in 2016.  The sky is awash in beautiful pastel colors and the building is painted in confident, thick brushstrokes.

This is an 8" x 10" oil on linen panel.  I started this painting on location, I was inspired by the blue highlights on this horse.  Liver Chestnut horses have a blueish sheen when they are in the sun, their brown fur is almost violet.  I painted the horse in a realistic way and painted thick, expressive, abstract-looking brushwork to depict the hay and barn.

This is a 16" x 12" oil on canvas panel.  California Street is one of my favorite streets in San Francisco.  In the early morning, I like the view from the top looking down and out towards the Bay Bridge.  I started this painting on location and finished it in the studio. The brush strokes in this painting are loose and expressionistic, full of color and motion.

This is a 9" x 12" oil on linen panel.  The Ferry Building is a great place to have lunch, go to the farmers market and watch the boats passing by on the San Francisco Bay.  This painting captures the passing sailboats, Treasure Island and the bridge.  In an impressionist style, the water is painted with contrast and patterns of thick brushwork.

This is a 12" x 12" oil on linen panel.  I spent some time in Duboise, Wyoming, just outside of town I discovered this group of beautiful horses huddled together in the wind.  Behind them are some iconic Wyoming red bluffs.  This contemporary impressionist painting comes alive with each brushstroke applied to the dry grass and swishing horse tails.

This is a  12" x 16" oil on linen panel.  One day I was walking around in Rome with my family and I discovered this church at the top of a hill.  It was late in the afternoon and Italian cypress trees were casting beautiful, violet shadows patterns onto this orange church.  The church is portrayed in warm shades of cadmium.  Thick brushstrokes depict the texture of the stucco,

This is a 10" x 8" oil on linen panel.  This painting was started on location in Krakow, it captures the busy town square in the early morning on a warm summer day.  Thick brushwork is carefully and delicately painted to depict the many details and spires on top of the clock tower.

This is a 10" x 8" oil on linen panel.  Saint Mary's Basilica is a famous landmark in Krakow, every hour, a trupeteer comes out to play a song.  The Unesco world heritage site is lined with cafes, shops and flower stands.  This small painting is filled with detailed impressionist style brushstrokes that show the people, umbrellas and buildings.

This is an 18" x 24" oil on canvas.  This impressionist painting was inspired by an early evening walk along the Thames River,  Big Ben is one of my favorite buildings in the world,  This painting is filled with detail and light, The Houses Of Parliament and its many spires are richly painted, details of peple walking on the bridge and the river boat give a sense of movement to the scene.

This is a 12" x 16" oil on linen panel.  Marjorie Glacier is a huge glacier, I was amazed at the glow of the glacial ice.  The exposed rocks have a rosy, warm tone and contrast nicely with the cool blues of the glaciers.  The floating icebergs in the foreground lead the viewer towards the glacier, Mount Sain Elias is in the background.  This small painting is painted with thick but delicate impressionist style brushstrokes.

This is a 6" x 8" oil on canvas panel.  We visited this colonial town in Vietnam on a rainy day.  Red lanterns hang from the tree framing the river in a mosaic of color and light.

This is a 30" x 40" oil on canvas.  This painting was inspired by several evening strolls along the Newport Harbor waterfront.  I used 35 photos to compile all of the boats and lights in this painting.  The Balboa Pavillion can be seen in the background.  Impressionist style brushwork depicts the evening glare of the setting sun on the water.

This is a 20" x 24" oil on canvas.  One of the first beaches I visited in Southern California is Little Corona Del Mar, its iconic leaning tree, sea rock arch and reef has all of the elements that make southern California beaches so famously beautiful.  This piece is alive with color and thick texture. Impressionistic brushstrokes add to the rhythm and motion of the water.

This is a 10" x 10" oil on canvas panel.  This painting was inspired by a visit to Cooper Garrods Vineyard in Saratoga, California. They have wine tasting, vineyards and trail rides.  Hucklebery is waiting for his next rider.  In the impressionist style, I've added brushstrokes of pink and blue to highlight the chestnut horse.

This is a 9" x 12" oil on canvas.  This is the home of Pepe Serna, a star in the movie, The Godfather.  Its located on Balboa Island in Newport Beach.  I was attracted to it because of the vibrant blue color of the stucco house and the bright orange roof.  The tropical planting frames the house, details of bougaivilla, turquoise lined windows and a sun sculpture complete this fun painting.

This is the most colorful part of the city, I especially love the signs and streetlamp as well as the red draped lanters.  This is a colorful,  festive painting with a lot of detail and light.

This is a 20" x 24" oil on canvas.  This painting captures the view looking up California Street in San Francisco, the cars coming down the steep street are like a waterfall of lights.  The commuters are crossing the street while cable cars wait.  This is an evening scene that glows.

This is a 9" x 12" oil on linen panel.  This painting was inspired by a walk around Balboa Island, it was the first painting I did at "Just Plein Fun",  a yearly plein air event at the Debra Huse Gallery in Balboa.  I fell in love with this cute red boat with its festive flags and canopy.  The light and reflections in the water make a beautiful impressionist seascape.

This is a 11" x 14" oil on linen panel.  There is a special road called Route 92 that goes from Highway 280 to Half Moon Bay, I like to go there to paint along 92 in the fall because the low-hanging morning sunlight has a very special quality at that time of year.  I usually paint pumpkin patches in Half Moon Bay, but this time I decided to paint the dahlia farm.   The colors in this painting are amazing and the barn in the distance completes this Northern California impressionist farm scene.

This is a 24" x 30" oil on canvas.  The San Francisco Bay is beautiful any time of day and is especially gorgeous at night  The lights under the bridge are Oakland, the Bay Bridge is lit and the Ferry Building glows.  I love to paint Impresionist style nocturnes because of the dramatic contrasting values.

This is a  9" x 12" oil on linen panel was painted on location.  Fiesole is a hilltop town above Florence.  I love the way the sun lit up these yellow homes and the way they are framed by the Italian cypress trees.  The red-roofed cityscape of Florence including the duomo can be seen in the distance.

This is a 12" x 16" oil on canvas.  Carmel is a beautiful place to paint, the beaches and rocky coastline are dramatic, the town is full of art galleries and great restaurants.  I was entranced by these blue and purple flowers that were lit up by the radiant sunlight.  Thick impressionist style brushstrokes depict the flowers and inviting pathway.

A 20" x  16" oil on canvas.  This painting depicts a typical evening looking up California Street, at first you notice the cable car, next you see the person crossing the street in front of it.  The reflections and misty evening fog enhance the glow of the cable car light.

This is a 40" x 30" oil on canvas.  I've spent many happy days at China Cove in Point Lobos, this amazing park is 4 miles south of Carmel By The Sea, it's a treasure trove of beautiful scenery with unique rock formations and a lot of wildlife.  You can see seals, whales, otters and many different types of sea birds.  This painting of China Cove is two landscapes in one, the first landscape is the view looking down into the cove, the second is the view looking south towards the distant coastline .  The large scale of this painting allows for a lot of detail including some sea stars in the bottom and a spotted seal swimming accross the kelp bed.

The End Of Summer, Newport Harbor, California

This is a 9" x 12" oil on Belgian linen panel.  I enjoy warm afternoons and the sunny glare of the evening.  This painting was inspired by a an evening stroll along the Balboa Penninsula walkway.  The Newport Sailing school is out as well as an assortment of boats often found in Newport Harbor such as the duffy and the tug boat.

Thick impressionist style brushstrokes of various shades of reflected light dance accross the water towards the viewer.

Docked In Santa Cruz Harbor

This is a 12" x 12" oil on canvas panel.  The bold colors of this harbor scene and lively brush strokes create an impression of movement and light.   This painting was inspired by the harbor in Santa Cruz.  I often look for complimentary colors in landscapes, this painting has a nice assortment of blues and oranges.

The Dinner Hour San Francisco

This is a 12" x 10" oil on linen pane.  This painting was inspired by an evening stroll in San Francisco from Chinatown to downtown.  We passed by The Sentinel where people were waiting to get in for dinner.  It was a misty evening and the lights reflected beautifully on the pavement and the warm glow of the restaurant invites the viewer in.

The Fourth Of July, Crescent Beach

This is a 30" x 40" oil on canvas.  While living in Southern California I discovered a lot of beautiful places to paint, this painting is the view from one of my favorite vistas above Crescent Beach, its called Crescent Bay Point Park.  This painting is large so its size allows for  a lot of detail including many sunbathers and swimmers, the homes on the hillside and the small rocky cliff that frames the bay.   The water around Laguna is gorgeous, I've expressively painted various overlapping shades of blue and viridian, hues of violet radiate from the wet sand.

Late Afternoon, Catalina Island, California

This is a 10" x 12" oil on linen panel.  Catalina is a short ferry ride from Los Angeles but a world away.  If you get the chance to go there, the slow pace will make you feel like you've stepped back in time. This is the main harbor which is filled with boats and near the ferry landing.  I spent 3 days on Catalina and this was the last painting I did there on location.  The bold colors in this painting sparkle, the lively brush strokes create an impression of movement and light.  I hope to go back there someday.

The Golden Gate Bridge From The Legion Of Honor, San Francisco

This is a 8" x 16" oil on linen panel.  I don't often do long rectangles but this format allowed me to capture the gorgeous Marin headlands to the left of the bridge.  I started this painting on location from a cliff near The Legion Of Honor in Golden Gate Park In San Francisco.  The tops of the cypress trees in the foreground frame the gorgeous blue San Francisco Bay.  On the other side of the bridge you can see some of Sausalito.

The Road To Romance

This is a 20" x 24" oil on canvas.  When we visited Tuscany, we got to explore different hilltop towns each day, I enjoyed getting to see the amazing valley views, farmland, vineyards and beautiful country roads that go from town to town.  This painting expressively captures the feeling of being on top of the world in Tuscany, it was inspired by a visit to the town of Cortona, this town was the central town in the movie, Under a Tuscan Sun.  Thick brushwork depicts the orange trees and 12th century village and monastery in the foreground.

Aloha Ranch, Horse Talk

This is a 12" x 12" oil on linen panel.  I got to spend a lot of time at a very special, small ranch in Costa Mesa called Aloha Ranch.  I got to know the horses' personalities, this painting captures the shyness of the white horse and the way the paint horse protects her.  Each painting tells a story, this tells the story of their relationship, their beautiful markings are framed by neutral background colors.  I like paintings to have a strong drawing and loose brushwork, this painting has those qualities.

At The Water's Edge, 16" x 20" oil on canvas

This is a 16" x 20" oil on canvas.  This painting was inspired by a walk on the beach at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach, California.  Crystal Cove is a beloved 6 mile stretch of beach.  Colorful umbrellas and gentle waves portray a family day at the beach.  The brush strokes in this painting are loose and expressionistic, full of color and motion.

The Italianate Garden

An 11" x 14" original oil painting.  Italian cypress trees and lavendar flowers invite the viewer down a terra cotta path.  This painting was started on location at Filoli Gardens in Northern California. The entire landscape is drenched in late afternoon light. The painting is alive with motion and texture, the thick, expressive brush strokes drawing you deeper into the painting.  

Moonlight, Newport Harbor

This is a 9" x 12" oil on canvas.  This painting was inspired by a full moon evening on Newport Harbor, the sailboat is illuminated by the moon, the inviting Balboa Pavillion casts beautiful reflections onto the bay.  Pastel shades of pink and violet clouds light up the sky.

The Cunada Building, Los Gatos, California

This is a 10" x 8" oil on linen panel.  The Cunada building is one of my favorite buildings in Los Gatos.  Los Gatos is a vibrant, sunny town in the Bay Area of Northern California.  This was painted on location at the Los Gatos Plein Air Event in 2016.  The sky is awash in beautiful pastel colors and the building is painted in confident, thick brushstrokes.

Mission San Juan Capistrano

A 12" x 16" original oil on linen panel.  One of California's most beautiful missions, Mission San Juan Capistrano is painted in combination with a bouquet of flowers.  This painting is alive with color and texture, the impasto brush strokes invite you to take a closer look.

The Liver Chestnut Mare

This is an 8" x 10" oil on linen panel.  I started this painting on location, I was inspired by the blue highlights on this horse.  Liver Chestnut horses have a blueish sheen when they are in the sun, their brown fur is almost violet.  I painted the horse in a realistic way and painted thick, expressive, abstract-looking brushwork to depict the hay and barn.

From The Top, California Street, San Francisco

This is a 16" x 12" oil on canvas panel.  California Street is one of my favorite streets in San Francisco.  In the early morning, I like the view from the top looking down and out towards the Bay Bridge.  I started this painting on location and finished it in the studio. The brush strokes in this painting are loose and expressionistic, full of color and motion.

View From The Ferry Building, San Francisco

This is a 9" x 12" oil on linen panel.  The Ferry Building is a great place to have lunch, go to the farmers market and watch the boats passing by on the San Francisco Bay.  This painting captures the passing sailboats, Treasure Island and the bridge.  In an impressionist style, the water is painted with contrast and patterns of thick brushwork.

A Windy Day In Wyoming

This is a 12" x 12" oil on linen panel.  I spent some time in Duboise, Wyoming, just outside of town I discovered this group of beautiful horses huddled together in the wind.  Behind them are some iconic Wyoming red bluffs.  This contemporary impressionist painting comes alive with each brushstroke applied to the dry grass and swishing horse tails.

Cypress Shadows, A Church In Rome

This is a  12" x 16" oil on linen panel.  One day I was walking around in Rome with my family and I discovered this church at the top of a hill.  It was late in the afternoon and Italian cypress trees were casting beautiful, violet shadows patterns onto this orange church.  The church is portrayed in warm shades of cadmium.  Thick brushstrokes depict the texture of the stucco, 

The Town Square, Krakow

This is a 10" x 8" oil on linen panel.  This painting was started on location in Krakow, it captures the busy town square in the early morning on a warm summer day.  Thick brushwork is carefully and delicately painted to depict the many details and spires on top of the clock tower.

Saint Mary's Basilica, Krakow, Poland

This is a 10" x 8" oil on linen panel.  Saint Mary's Basilica is a famous landmark in Krakow, every hour, a trupeteer comes out to play a song.  The Unesco world heritage site is lined with cafes, shops and flower stands.  This small painting is filled with detailed impressionist style brushstrokes that show the people, umbrellas and buildings.

Evening On The Thames, Big Ben And The Houses Of Parliament, London

This is an 18" x 24" oil on canvas.  This impressionist painting was inspired by an early evening walk along the Thames River,  Big Ben is one of my favorite buildings in the world,  This painting is filled with detail and light, The Houses Of Parliament and its many spires are richly painted, details of peple walking on the bridge and the river boat give a sense of movement to the scene.

Marjorie Glacier, Glacier Bay, Alaska

This is a 12" x 16" oil on linen panel.  Marjorie Glacier is a huge glacier, I was amazed at the glow of the glacial ice.  The exposed rocks have a rosy, warm tone and contrast nicely with the cool blues of the glaciers.  The floating icebergs in the foreground lead the viewer towards the glacier, Mount Sain Elias is in the background.  This small painting is painted with thick but delicate impressionist style brushstrokes.

Hoi An, Vietnam

This is a 6" x 8" oil on canvas panel.  We visited this colonial town in Vietnam on a rainy day.  Red lanterns hang from the tree framing the river in a mosaic of color and light.

Newport Harbor

This is a 30" x 40" oil on canvas.  This painting was inspired by several evening strolls along the Newport Harbor waterfront.  I used 35 photos to compile all of the boats and lights in this painting.  The Balboa Pavillion can be seen in the background.  Impressionist style brushwork depicts the evening glare of the setting sun on the water.

Little Corona Del Mar Beach, California

This is a 20" x 24" oil on canvas.  One of the first beaches I visited in Southern California is Little Corona Del Mar, its iconic leaning tree, sea rock arch and reef has all of the elements that make southern California beaches so famously beautiful.  This piece is alive with color and thick texture. Impressionistic brushstrokes add to the rhythm and motion of the water.

Huckleberry

This is a 10" x 10" oil on canvas panel.  This painting was inspired by a visit to Cooper Garrods Vineyard in Saratoga, California. They have wine tasting, vineyards and trail rides.  Hucklebery is waiting for his next rider.  In the impressionist style, I've added brushstrokes of pink and blue to highlight the chestnut horse.

Pepe's House

This is a 9" x 12" oil on canvas.  This is the home of Pepe Serna, a star in the movie, The Godfather.  Its located on Balboa Island in Newport Beach.  I was attracted to it because of the vibrant blue color of the stucco house and the bright orange roof.  The tropical planting frames the house, details of bougaivilla, turquoise lined windows and a sun sculpture complete this fun painting.

The Bay Bridge, San Franciscopanel

This is a 6" x 8" oil on canvas of a ferry docking at the Ferry building terminal.  The Bay Bridge and warm morning sunlight are painted in thick brushstrokes of beautiful pastel shades of yellow and orange.

Chinese New Year

This is a 12" x 12" oil on canvas panel.  This painting was inspired by an evening visit to Chinatown in San Francisco. This is the most colorful part of the city, I especially love the signs and streetlamp as well as the red draped lanters.  This is a colorful,  festive painting with a lot of detail and light.

Sunset Over California Street, San Francisco

This is a 20" x 24" oil on canvas.  This painting captures the view looking up California Street in San Francisco, the cars coming down the steep street are like a waterfall of lights.  The commuters are crossing the street while cable cars wait.  This is an evening scene that glows.

The Last Days Of Summer

This is a 24" x 30" oil on canvas.  Late afternoon is one of my favorite times of day to paint and take photos.  This scene was inspired by a lazy afternoon spent at Crystal Cove in Southern California.    Vibrant blues frame a sunlit beach umbrella, sun sparkles on the waves filled with swimmers.

The Red Boat, Balboa Island, California

This is a 9" x 12" oil on linen panel.  This painting was inspired by a walk around Balboa Island, it was the first painting I did at "Just Plein Fun",  a yearly plein air event at the Debra Huse Gallery in Balboa.  I fell in love with this cute red boat with its festive flags and canopy.  The light and reflections in the water make a beautiful impressionist seascape.

Evening In Front Of The Victoria And Albert Museum, London

This is an 18" x 24" oil on canvas.  This busy, expressively painted impressionist-style scene was inspired by a visit to London.  The Victoria and Albert Museum is a world renowned art museum.   Beautiful architecture, glowing streetlamps, an iconic London cab and museum goers complete this rainy romantic scene.  This painting glows with thick, impasto brushwork.

Inside Passage, Alaska

This is a 6" x 8" oil on linen panel.  This painting was inspired by an Alaskan cruise, this is near Icy Strait Point which is in the Inside Passage.  Soft pastel colors frame a dramatic mountain and small islands.  

The Dahlia Farm, Half Moon Bay, California

This is a 11" x 14" oil on linen panel.  There is a special road called Route 92 that goes from Highway 280 to Half Moon Bay, I like to go there to paint along 92 in the fall because the low-hanging morning sunlight has a very special quality at that time of year.  I usually paint pumpkin patches in Half Moon Bay, but this time I decided to paint the dahlia farm.   The colors in this painting are amazing and the barn in the distance completes this Northern California impressionist farm scene.

Evening On The Bay, The Ferry Building, San Francisco

This is a 24" x 30" oil on canvas.  The San Francisco Bay is beautiful any time of day and is especially gorgeous at night  The lights under the bridge are Oakland, the Bay Bridge is lit and the Ferry Building glows.  I love to paint Impresionist style nocturnes because of the dramatic contrasting values.

Flinders Train Station, Melbourne, Australia

This is a 6" x 8" original oil painting on canvas panel.  The Flinders Train Station in Melbourne is surrounded by people to form an abstract, colorful crowd and give the painting movement and life.  The warm colors of the building create a beautiful contrast to the clear blue sky.

So Many Whales, Inside Passage, Alaska

This is a 6" x 8" oil on canvas panel.  I painted this painting on an Alaskan cruise.  This painting depicts another cruise ship and distant glaciers.  Whale spouts from a large pod of whales can be seen on the right.  We were fortunate to see a lot of Humpback whales and Orcas on this trip.  

Lviv, Ukraine

This is a 10" x 8" oil on linen panel.  This painting was painted on location in Lviv, a little known but very special town full of beautiful buildings and people.   I really enjoyed the chance to visit this corner of the world.  

Rome From The Rooftop Garden

This is a 8" x 10" oil on linen panel.  This painting was painted on location from a rooftop garden at our hotel in Rome.  Rome has an amazing skyline of terra cotta roofs, ancient buildings and church domes.  The perspective lines in the foreground take the viewer deeper into the painting and out to the iconic Roman buildings.

Florence From Fiesole

This is a  9" x 12" oil on linen panel was painted on location.  Fiesole is a hilltop town above Florence.  I love the way the sun lit up these yellow homes and the way they are framed by the Italian cypress trees.  The red-roofed cityscape of Florence including the duomo can be seen in the distance.

Shopping In Rome

This is an 11" x 14" oil on canvas.  Rainy evening cityscapes are a favorite subject of mine to paint.  People walking in the rain and shop windows create a colorful, expressive scene for me to paint.  Thick, confident brushstrokes create a lively street scene.

Saratoga Vineyard

This is a 16" x 20" oil on canvas.  This painting was inspired by a visit to the vineyard at Cooper Garrods stable and vineyards in Saratoga, Northern California.  The afternoon sun lit up these vines and the dramatic clouds add a feeling of a breezy afternoon to this scene.  

The French Garden At Carmel Mission

This is a 12" x 16" oil on canvas.  Carmel is a beautiful place to paint, the beaches and rocky coastline are dramatic, the town is full of art galleries and great restaurants.  I was entranced by these blue and purple flowers that were lit up by the radiant sunlight.  Thick impressionist style brushstrokes depict the flowers and inviting pathway.

The Bay Bridge From The Ferry Building, San Francisco

A 12" x 16" oil on linen panel.  This view from the back of the Ferry buliding looking out on the San Francisco bay, there is a ferry on its way to Sausalito and lots of sailboats enjoying a beautiful morning sail on the bay.

California Street, San Francisco

A 20" x  16" oil on canvas.  This painting depicts a typical evening looking up California Street, at first you notice the cable car, next you see the person crossing the street in front of it.  The reflections and misty evening fog enhance the glow of the cable car light.

Keyhole Rock, Laguna, California

This is an 11" x 14" oil on linen panel.  Keyhole Rock is an iconic Southern California landmark at Montage Resort in south Laguna Beach, California.  This impressionist landscape depicts and early morning view.  The bougainvilla frames the beach and the rock formation invites the viewer to look down the southern coastline.

Golden Reflections, Laguna Beach

A 12" x 12" oil on linen panel.  Laguna beach is a naturally colorful place, the wet sand reflections inspired me to paint this scene, the golden cliffs are covered with statis and bougainvillea as well as iconic southern California palms.

Labor Day Weekend, Laguna Beach

This is a 30" x 40" oil on canvas.  This painting was inspired by several visits to Heisler park which sits on a cliff overlooking this gorgeous beach called Main Beach, Laguna, California.  This is a cheerful painting full of beachgoers, colorful umbrellas and swimmers, The world famous Hotel Laguna is visible near the second life guard stand.

A Beach Day At Crystal Cove, California

An 11" x 14" oil on linen panel.  Violet wet sand reflections in combination with the colorful umbrellas inspired this busy beach scene.  There is a lot of detail in this small painting depicted by thick, delicate impressionist style brushstrokes.

Beach Blanket, Laguna

A 12" x 12" oil on canvas.  This is a simple, colorful painting encompassing some of my favorite beach things.  Friends enjoying a day at the beach and distant sailboats.  Thick, impressionist style brushwork give the colorful elements dimension and movement.

Arches, Point Lobos

A 16" x 20" oil on canvas.  This is a famous landmark sea arch at Point Lobos park near Carmel, California, its along the Bird Rock Trail at the southern end of the park.  I enjoyed organizing and painting the unusual rock formations in this painting.  The detail in the grass, movement in the water and the low hanging fog in the distance depict a typical Northern California day.
